Artist Statement
Art has always been part of my life, from designing popsicle stick houses during childhood summers to creating handmade gift cards with portrait drawings of loved ones. Today, my work centers on Caribbean identity, celebrating the people and landscapes of my Kittitian-Nevisian heritage through realism and semi-realism acrylic painting. I’m drawn to portraits for the stories held in faces and to landscapes that reflect the quiet experiences of Caribbean adolescence.
While representational art is my foundation, I aim to explore deeper emotional and introspective layers. I’m particularly interested in the space where realism meets imagination, where portraits and landscapes blur in more surreal ways, expanding my understanding of composition, light, and color. Each piece from here onward moves me closer to the visual language that feels most authentic to who I am and where I come from. Follow my journey!
