Sasha Herbert, widely known as Sasha The Artist, is a renowned artist-entrepreneur from St. Kitts & Nevis. She's celebrated for her innovative approach to visual arts and entertainment, blending traditional techniques with modern experiences.

 

Early Life and Education

 

Born on July 28, 1995, Sasha displayed an innate creative ability from a young age. Her early artistic endeavors included crafting popsicle stick houses and drawing portraits for loved ones. As she grew, Sasha developed a talent for creating realistic acrylic portraits inspired by the vibrant Kitti-Nevis culture, leading to success in various art competitions.

In 2012, Sasha was recognized as one of St. Kitts' Most Remarkable Teens in Art, a pivotal moment in her artistic journey. She continued her education at Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, graduating summa cum laude in 2014 with an Associate of Arts in Sciences & General Studies. During her time there, Sasha received "Most Outstanding Performance" in CAPE Visual Arts for two consecutive years (2013 & 2014).

Professional Career

 

Since 2017, Sasha has established herself as both an arts educator and entertainer. She pioneered innovative community-based art experiences that enrich local culture and foster creativity. Her engaging activities for corporate events, visitor experiences, and celebrations cater to participants of all ages and backgrounds.

 

Sasha's unique approach to art entertainment has garnered significant recognition. In 2018, she received the OECS 30 under 30 Entrepreneur Award, and in 2024, FORBES acknowledged her work as a Unique Travel Experience.

 

Exhibitions and Recognition

 

Sasha's artistry has gained both local and international acclaim. Her work has been showcased in notable exhibitions across the Caribbean, with the highlight being her participation in the Carifesta XIV 'Across Borders' Exhibition in Trinidad & Tobago (2019).

 

In 2016, St. Kitts Visitor Magazine named Sasha "Artist Extraordinary." More recently, in September 2024, she received the Creative Excellence Award in Visual Arts from the Department of Creative Economy in St. Kitts.

 

Sasha's talent has been recognized at the highest levels of government. She received a prestigious commission from the Office of the Prime Minister to create a masterpiece showcasing the Federation's rich cultural heritage and architectural wonders, which was subsequently gifted to CARICOM's Secretary General in 2024. Additionally, her painting of St. Kitts Independence Square serves as the backdrop for the Prime Minister's official photos.
